Preparing for your newborn session

Newborn sessions usually occur between 2-14 days old.

Most newborn sessions are done in the comfort of your home. If this is not an ideal option for any reason, I also offer newborn sessions at my home. The location of the session will be decided prior to the session. If we are using your home, I will be working in rooms that are well lit by natural light. I will photographing in living rooms, nurseries and possibly parents bedrooms. Please make sure the rooms are prepared for photographs, any items you don't wish to be shown in pictures should be removed/ cleaned prior to the session! Once I arrive it will take me about 20 minutes to set up. Please have your baby awake, fed and wrapped in a warm blanket closest to my arrival time. I message parents prior to leaving my house to allow for feedings to start.

If you are nursing your baby, please have a bottle pumped incase I need to sooth your baby during the session. Also have a pacifier handy to help with soothing baby through poses and transitions. Mornings are the ideal time for newborns to be photographed, where this tends to be their most sleepy time.

After their first morning feed I ask parents to keep their little one(s) awake for as long as possible before my arrival to help me get the "sleepy" baby poses!

My main goal is to capture as many images of your new bundle of joy, while keeping parents and baby comfortable and content. I allow for feedings during the sessions, and for parents to hold babies. I hope for this experience to be as stress-free, comfortable and enjoyable as possible!

What to Wear?!...

Planning outfits that coordinate and photograph well can be very challenging. I am here to help. If at anytime you need suggestions or tips feel free to message me and I will be happy to give you my opinion.

Helpful Tips:

Not every person needs to be in the same color, in-fact it is best that families/ groups compliment rather than match.

Prints are definitely an option, but make sure not to include too many differnt prints. I suggest one print ( kids can be all in the same)and the rest of the family in solids.

Layering is a great way to add dimension to an outfit as well. Scarves, sweaters, hats or shawls, are all wonderful accessories. ‚Äč

For newborn sessions I suggest neutrals such as whites, creams, tans, soft pinks grey, or navy.
